This week, Julia and Gino talk with Adam Mitchell. Adam is dad to four kids. He has been teaching families the skills of personal protection for over 20 years at his school in New York. In 2006, he recognized a specific need that most men yearned for as Dads, but didn’t have the access or understanding to the type of training they needed to truly keep their families safe under any circumstance. As a result, he created the program ‘Close Quarter Dad’ with a goal to provide men with the knowledge they need to teach their children safety, resilience and survival.
Julia and Gino discuss with Adam on what the program is all about. We, as parents, never communicate about certain topics with our family and/or kids. These topics are not just important but are primary to learn and to have understanding about to keep a family safe and resilient in various phases and situations of life. Adam gets into the specifications of the program and contextualizes safety in different ways. And, it is not just about safety, it is about preparing our kids for difficult times by training them each day by crossing streams with them and making them cherish their small victories.
